The Golden Retriever originated in Scotland in the 19th century, thanks to the efforts of Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, later known as Lord Tweedmouth. He wanted to breed a dog suitable for hunting waterfowl in the rugged Scottish terrain, one that was friendly to people and easy to train.

The Golden Retriever is known for its thick, water-resistant coat in various shades of gold, its friendly expression, and its active yet balanced temperament. They are intelligent, easy to train, and have a great desire to please, making them excellent working dogs and family companions.
